Music of Q: Question of Honor?

The dreaded letter Q.

When looking through my iTunes catalogue, I only have one Q entry. So then I went to YouTube and the iTunes store to see what I was missing. But how do you look up "Q" and hope to find a whole collection of songs or artists you hadn't yet thought of?

Alas, today is going to be a short post--my lone Q song in my collection.

1. "A Question of Honor" by Sarah Brightman
I learned who Sarah Brightman was in junior high when I was just exploring show tune collections and wanted to know more about Phantom of the Opera. But it wasn't until more than 20 years later that I finally embraced this amazing singer. A family member who was incredibly close to me passed away a few short months after her diagnosis. They played another Sarah Brightman song at her funeral and to this day, I still can't listen to it all the way through. Unless I'm feeling like I need to have a good cry. Then, and maybe only then, will I listen to it.

Here's a video of "A Question of Honor" as sung by Sarah Brightman at one of the DIVAS concerts.

You tell me: What's in your music playlist under the letter "Q"?

  1. It's got to be Queen! Cheesy, but perfect if you're in the right mood :-)

  2. Ooooh, great piece of music! I'm with AFE Smith - there's nothing like Queen.

The only song I have starting with Q is Quiet Life by Japan. Nothing like 80s Electronica :D

  3. Sarah Brightman! Now that brings back memories. I still can't believe she was married to Andrew Lloyd Webber!

  4. I have the Quidditch World Cup song from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (love that one!) And Quandro le sere al placido by Placido Domingo.

I love the range in Sarah's voice. She can sound so pop, and then there is her opera "mode."

  5. Not many Q songs, but I have a lot of music by Queensryche and Queens of the Stone Age.

  6. The only stuff I've got for Q is Queens of the Stone Age. I bet there're songs out there that start with "Quit" or "Quiet". Maybe "Queer"?

  7. Ok I had to check and see what was on mine: A Question of time, and A Question of lust both by Depeche Mode. I would not have remembered that though! :)

  8. I looked and I don't have a single song starting with Q on the ipod. Weird. I have one Queen song and that's it. That's not right.

  9. Man, I got nothing. Except the classic Queen songs and one Queens of the Stone Age.

  10. I can't believe I forgot Queen! This A-Z theme is pointing out again and again that I'm missing many CDs from my collection in my iTunes. And I don't know any Queens of the Stone Age music. Might have to check them out.

And Talli--I didn't know she was married to Andrew Lloyd Webber! That seems strange to me for some reason. How old do you think he is?

  11. Checked my iTunes, and I didn't even know I had that Sarah Brightman.

And one of the best Q songs gotta be "Queen of the Slipstream."

  12. Queen is the only Q group I have, but I can recommend the rather cheesy "Queen of Hearts" by Juice Newton and the fabulously soulful "Quittin' Time" by Mary Chapin Carpenter.
